Philip's atlas of world history by Was looking for a good yet comprehensive historical atlas to pick up to have a newer one on hand (for self and kids). Looked through many varieties at indy and big box bookstores and decided on this one.

It has many, many maps of cultural, economic, linguistic, religious, and sociopolitical events beyond /5(14). If you are familiar with the Times Atlas of World History don't make the mistake of thinking this is on a par with that.

In fact this is more of a text history than an atlas. The maps are terrible, and very small for the most part.

One of the most disappointing books I have ever bought, and a bit of a cautionary story about buying books s: "An excellent world atlas. Very illuminating, good colours, clear texts good glossary and, last but not least, up-to-date".
